Yum Yum

Went to the good food show on saturday… it was really… ummm… Good!

on Wednesday I went to the ridiculously named “Love Actuary” presentation given by PwC and decided that I don’t really want to be an actuary. Fortunate, then, that they rejected me and have said that my application was good so I should apply to be in Assurance or Tax. I’m favouring the former and am doing some research before making any choices.

Thursday swung by like a pendulous car and before I knew it I was playing Badminton and losing (as usual). More rubbish people should definitely turn up.

Afterwards I went down to the pub for Lorraines birthday party…

Friday brought with it some more swinging… this time in the guise of salsa.

Another beginners lesson, and some definite improvement… it’s quite good fun.

The real centre point of the week was the ultra-busy Saturday

First there was getting to stockport station (we managed to get some really cheap tickets, btw, simply by checking the prices regularly) and onto the train to Brum.

As previously mooted, we were there for the Good Food Show!

Lots of us were there, including Pete, Wayne, Rosy etc… and we started out in the food section towards the back for a hearty lunch of “Sausage Sandwich”. Delicious.

We went round the stalls and picked up a few items, Jelly Beans, Lemonade, Cheese, nice crisps, Olives spring to mind, but there were more.

We finished off watching a Gordon Ramsey presentation in one of the theatres.

The show was very busy, but a lot of fun, so I suspect we’ll be there next year!

Speaking of annual events, we next made our way to the overtly western Cheltenham for the latest installment of Mike + Pams parties (officially now a tradition)

Loads of people were there that we knew and we stayed until 3am, where upon some taxi shannanigans took place and we retired to the premier travel lodge.

Another event I’ll definitely be attending next year.

slovenly Sunday appeared from nowhere and breakfast was (bizarrely) in a champagne bar whilst I read reports of liverpools 1-0 victory over man city, Englands patheticness at rugby and studiously avoided those remarking on the first test.

Mahinda gave us a trip home and I relaxed at home by playing a large poker session, (first in ages!) making $45 to $50 in the process.

I watched the end of the first test too. It didn’t take long.

Monday arrived and marked the start of a brand spanking new week. I was busy as a bee, so much so that my first cup of tea did not arrive until gone 4.

Lots of things sorted out, though, so that’s ok.

I’m now arranging the first ever (of this type) Manchester mathematics annual conference. Which should/could be fun/stressful.

I played footie too. It was a good game.

Smiling ponderously just behind the moon, Tuesday appeared with a flourish - which brings me (you) right up to date.

feel free to comment. (but not on any spelling mistakes or with grammatical corrections)

  1. I was in my bed, unable to sleep, when I realised that the cricket had started. Moving meant too much effort, so I reached for my laptop, fired it up, and found that Pietersen had gone already. I decided that actually watching the game would be too depressing.

  2. it wasn’t too bad, but my initial plan of “staying up until pietersen is out” died a death with the 5th ball of the day (i.e. the one after he was out)

  3. I should be playing badminton tomorrow, and should definitely be extra rubbish due to my dodgy knee. (I’m seeing a doctor on friday. Have tentatively diagnosed it as a partial dislocation thing: http://orthopedics.about.com/cs/patelladisorders/a/kneecapdisloc.htm?terms=dislocated+knee)
