Thrills, Spills & Glokenspiels.

(Not so much of the latter)

Thursday continued….

So I went to a casino for the first time ever!

It was for the purposes of a poker tournament.

I decided to pop across to Huddersfield, with Rosy, to meet up with Andi and Adam to give it a go. Allan also turned up, deciding that it would be a favourable stop off on the way to spending the weekend in Preston.

The tourney was a £10 Pot Limit game, and I didn’t do too well. To be honest, I was a bit nervous and played 1 hand very badly which lead to me crashing out of the tourney early.

It was fun though, and I’ll definitely try it again a bit closer to home!

I watched the Middlesborough 1-0 Rome match on the tv there, whilst Andi & Allan went final table. Allan gave us a lift home.

Friday:

Into work after watching a bit of the cricket on tv, and not much else happened. Deliberately stayed at home since there’s a party tomorrow night.

Saturday:

Busy day started with tidying of the house.

That done I met up with Rosy, Kate, Lw, Lees & Adam for Badminton at the Moss Side leisure centre.

It’s the first time I’ve been there and I was pleasantly surprised to see that they have permanent cricket nets. I’ll definitely be booking those out for a session or two over the upcoming months. Mahinda & Adam have already expressed an interest.

Anyway, we teamed up and I ended up with Kate. We were a pretty good team and won 6 in a row (or so) before going rubbish and losing the next 3. I was definitely better than last week, but not by much.

After the badminton I went home and chilled out for a bit.

Then I got ready and went out to Emma R’s place for the mugss pre-show party.

Now this party was in a very strange building indeed, some sort of uber stylistic minimalist modern flat establishment on a dodgy road by Oxford Road train station, though the “Art” in the lobby just looked like dinosaur dung to us.

Emma R’s parents are fairly rich and have bought her this flat for living in next school year, Hence the place had no furniture. at all!

All of which made up for a strange (but fairly decent) atmosphere.

Mahinda made up a punch and the party flowed along nicely, though the mugss patrons all seemed to leave at reasonable times… meaning the party was more or less over by 2am. which was rubbish.

Mahinda, Rosy and I decided we’d continue in true style by visiting the other floors of the modern monstrosity where we discovered great long hall ways with uber slidey floors. Fun was had.

a return to the party were, by now, only Si, Alison, James, Emma, Ian, Mahinda, Rosy and Amy (though the latter was in a somewhat inebriated unconciouss state) were left.

More hijinks of the “Slidy floor” variety along with some indoor cricket and plenty more drinking took place, before people started passing out on the floor (or on bedroom floors, *a-hm*). The three of us made a move home around 4am, slightly disappointed that the party was over before we’d got tired ourselves.

Got home, ate noodles, watched a naff episode of the x-files and went to bed.

Sunday:

Shopped at asda and got home just in time to witness England getting walloped by the french at rugby, and Liverpool gift arsenal three points at highbury.

Watched 24 and played some poker, then called it a weekend.

Monday

Monday is today.

  1. you appear to have neglected to mention that I was still at the party. In fact I walked from Emma’s flat to the get-in at 9:00 the following morning - in the snow.
