How to Warm a House
So this weekend saw train fun (see previous blog entry - I’m going to keep whinging off the main diary entry) … King Kong and rubbish footie action….
But let’s go back to thursday to relate the beer festival first.
Thursday
Pro’s of going to a beer festival:
They are fun.
They have beer that tastes nice.
People I like go to them.
Con’s of going to a beer festival:
They cost money
Hangover.
All of which were applicable to thursdays Beer extravaganza.
But first, I had a bit of late work to take care off so had to meet everyone there quite late. There were far to many people to list there, but eventually a few of us went down the Salisbury for some extra drinking.
I don’t remember much from that, except that Ian dropped his pint over everyone! Alsion, me, archie (spelling?), Ian and some random person with a pink tie on, were there.
oh, and that Alsion chatted to a random person on the bus. Though that’s hardly newsworthy.
Friday
A Strange day, as I had to work feverishly to try and get some work done before the end of the day so I could meet up with Adrian, Emma & Rosy in time to watch King Kong at 7pm. I made it with about 10 mins to spare.
We watched the film, which I thought was pretty decent. There’s quite a lot of action, and though rosy will disagree, it wasn’t overly-sentimental in that way that American films have. Probably enough for most people… though I don’t think Emma liked it. (4/5).
Warning though, it is quite long (though not in the dull sense - imo) and you do get a lot of kong for your money… and though I enjoyed the flick - I’ll be quite happy not to watch a KK movie for a while now!
Afterwards we retired for a curry. For a few reasons I didn’t indulge and sipped away at a pint whilst the rest guzzled their spicy hut feasts.

Saturday
Woke up and quickly realised I wasn’t going to make the lunch….
[insert train journey here]
Arrived at the party for about 6pm.
It was pretty cool and involved:
* A number of pretty ladies. Unfortunately mostly attached, but good to talk to all the same.
* A number of pretty guitars. Unfortunately mostly attached. I did manage to bloody my finger on one of them though, in a tradional fashion.
* A number of people I haven’t seen in a while. Pete, Wayne, Lou, Aneta, Phil, … heck everyone who was there who I’d met before (that’d be everyone but one couple and Brindy, I think!)
* A number of beers. A fairly high number I think.
* Two kittens
* A discovery that anti-histimines really work, and they work quite well.
* Half of “Clerks”
* Dance Mats
* Mascara
* Loud bad music. Apparently Dance music was the choice of the majority, so I largely rolled with it.
* Kiddie Party Snacks. Genious.
* Pizza.
* Strange spillages
I think that was about it. I had a good time.
Sunday
woke up and went to a lunch in West Bridgford. I managed to concoct a breakfast type sandwich by utilising the option to “Create your own toasted sandwich” facility on the menu. The coffee was bad, but the bacon and egg sandwich was quite nice. Pricey though.
The delightful company continued to chat and I stayed a bit longer than I meant to, before heading back.
One final note; upon leaving the establishment I noticed the following disclaimer pinned up on the wall. Now you might not find this amusing, but I did. And this is my blog so I’m going to put it in!
T Lights
T lights are put on the tables at night to enhance the ambiance. Customers sit at the tables at their own risk. The management do not accept any liability for damage or injury caused to customers, in the event of untoward incidents caused by the T lights. Customers who prefer not to have T lights on their tables must advise staff to remove them.
Further, on the sheet,
(in the “Children” section)
Food and hot drinks are served throughout the day, which are of a dangerous nature.
and some further warning about warming baby bottles up occurs further down the sheet. I found it funny.
I headed off
[insert train journey to Derby here]
Whilst in Derby I found a pub and watched the Liverpool game. I thought we deserved at least a draw, but that’s football I suppose.
shortly before getting on the train, sorry bus, to Stoke I met up with Lizzie Burrows who was the keyboardist at Justin’s Rock Trial show. Spent the rest of the trip back with her, and though she was largely revising or sleeping I was grateful for the company.

Archie is correct. Short for Arcnha. The person in the pink tie is Liam (from SMAOS).
I like how talking to strangers isn’t newsworthy.
The warnings are ace! Everything dangerous should have warnings. And then warning that need to be spelt out to me.
