Poker

Thursday was quiz night at the Rain Bar - Alsion convinced us it’d be a good idea to go (a very tough proposition) and Linden, Ed, Jon, Rosy and I formed a team.

Much two-for-oneage occurred and a brief trip to Font also ensued.

For the record - we were second in the quiz, by one point… Mary Queen of Scots indeed!

Friday I stayed in and discovered the delights of Bettrick a site run by several Ht-friends of mine after Wayne figured out a way to make money from risk free betting. I realise that makes it sound a bit dodgy, but it really isn’t!

If you’ve a few free hours one evening, why not give it a go? I made £100 with minimum effort at the weekend. Mention me (waterhoose) if you do sign up as that earns me and you and extra fiver each.

Anyway, the reason I went on it was because I’ve been wanted to get into low-stakes poker online and Andi pointed out that if I joined through Bettrick I’d be entitled to £35, with a possible £35 to follow, so I did.

Andi knows a thing or two about poker, having played it since the beginning of last year, and he is one of the guys I’ve been asking for advice since I started looking into it.

Anyway, he sat in on my first tournament, which was on Sunday, a $3 (everything is in dollars on these sites!) 6 seat tournament. He basically showed me how to play - and I learnt quite a bit. I finished second and won $4.50.

Andi shot off, and I tried a tournament on my own a 9-seat $3 tournament. I won. ($13.50). Tournament poker is a lot of fun.

In the two tournaments since then I’ve come 4th/9 on a $3 table and 1st/9 on a $5 tournament. Overall I’m around $30 up.

In other news; This weekend saw the unbelievable third round FA cup game between Luton and Liverpool and the amusing Burton v Man United match.

We also played a no-stakes game of poker between Adrian, Rosy, Mahinda, Linden and I. Mahinda and I hit the worst run of cards I’ve ever seen (Mahinda’s were worse than mine to be fair) but I held in to come 2nd. Rosy won.

I also started playing football again myself yesterday (monday) and will again today!
