A Potted Review of last week

I thought I’d start with a quick run down of my last week and a big giant post about Leeds festival that some of you will already have seen.

Let’s run against the grain and start the week on a Tuesday.

Having come back from the Leeds festival and not quite felt tired enough Rosy, Linden and I decided that it would be a good idea to arrange the troops for an invasion of 42nd street. Having succesfully secured the services of Adrian, Emma and Mahinda to join us we started out with a few jars down the glass corridor and made our way down.

Upon arriving at the door the three or four bouncers that were there decided to inform us that it was a “Members and Regulars” only entry policy and that, therefore, we could not go in. Linden tried pleading with them but to no avail … Until she turned around and loudly exclaimed as to their lack of bouncerial compentence … At which point they turned around and let us in. Nice.

When we went to leave the place, however, they hit upon the cunning ruse of playing a continual stream of top tunes, and so we remained until forced out by the closing of the club.

Got a cab home. Good night out.

Spent most of Wednesday being hungover and I have no idea if I did anything of any consequence what-so-ever, which I guess is one of the reasons I’m now writing in here.

Thursday is hockey night, so I think I went into the office and may have actually done some work - the first since I got back - in fact I believe I even proved something (whip-woo!) but then moved onto hockey. I was vaguely and mysteriously amused by Mahinda’s little orange cones that have taken the place of his sticky wickets. Overall a good move.

Top Stick Action followed by regular beers down Hardy’s Well. Sport-tastic.

Friday rolled around none-the-wiser, and with it came Adrian and Emma’s house party. This was the first time I’ve seen their new house and it’s pretty top dollar. ’twas a decent party plenty of drink, a disgusting punch (I don’t like me alcohol sweet).

I was complimented on my shoes for the first time ever.

They have a funny little spiral staircase in their flat. I like it. they also have lots and lots of mirrors!

Anyway, we ended up playing cards, cheat and shit-head with varying rules (during gameplay) some bloke passed out and we all went home. didn’t feel quite drunk enough, but I’m sure that’ll change when the mugss party season hits full flow in a month or so’s time.

Saturday was a busy busy day. got up early and meandered around the house listening to the radio and getting myself sorted out for the wedding later on. In fact, I managed to get myself onto the radio by providing the “Finishing word” for Radio 5’s interview with Razorlight, who had been on stage when the final score came through from the cricket last Monday (i.e. when we beat those aussie’s into the ground) - My text said something to that effect and recieved a rather unusual “Ahhhh” from the presenter for some reason.

Anyway I was downstairs supping on me tea and I thought to meself “I’d best check those tickets” so I go upstairs…. and yes, that’s right, I’d misread the departure time as the arrival time in Leeds - we were leaving at 1207. One quick look at the watch later confirmed that it was now 1135. We were officially in a rush.

I called Mahinda up to see if he could give us a lift. Unfortunately though he was feeling rather green and halfway toward some stick and balls action for the second team in someone elses car, so I decided to take the plunge and basically use public transport whilst crossing my fingers, toes, legs and …. well whatever else you can cross basically.

We left the house at 1137 and arrived on the train, sweat stained and short of breath at 1206.

But we made it.

We arrived in Harrogate some 2 hours later and started on what turned out to be a rather long walk to a rather nice church on the Skipton road.

The wedding went off a treat, and if I figure out how to upload photo’s I’ve got some I’ll share with you when I get them off me phone.

Great wedding of an old friend, Wayne Field, and his new missus, Aneta, in a beautiful church. Made up for ‘em really. Hope they’re happy together for a long long time.

Anyway we had, unfortunately confirmed our attendence too late to get into the restricted dinner part of the proceedings, so Rosy and I made our way down to the local pub “The Skipton” (spelt with a comedy backward K) and watched the end of the england match, had a giant pie, and then the vastly superior Scotland match followed by half an hour of wondering where our taxi was and going on to the impressive Ripley Castle - scene of the reception.

Upon arriving my mistake was soon apparent; I should definitely of booked some accomodation. I would loved to have stayed for the whole event, but 20/20 is hindsight, my friend, and I didn’t think of that before.

Got home at close to 2am. tired. sleep.

Sunday was cleaning and Eating, but that’s what sundays were made for.

Monday is today. I played footie, we lost by a few (3-8 maybe???) I scored a nice goal. A good game today though it was very humid so it was very very tiring.

that’s it!
